Your Tax Problems
Nationwide Christian Tax Services: Faith-Centered IRS & State Tax Representation from Mike Habib, EA
Dealing with taxes and the IRS can be intimidating, even frightening. A letter with an unfamiliar notice number, a balance that keeps growing, or a state auditor asking for years of records can steal your sleep and your peace. When you look for Christian tax services, you are really looking for someone you can trust: a professional who will tell you the truth, treat you fairly, and walk beside you until the problem is resolved.
That is what Mike Habib, EA provides. As a federally licensed Enrolled Agent running a national tax representation firm, Mike delivers Christian Tax Services & IRS Representation to individuals, families, ministries, and business owners nationwide, including Americans living abroad. Tax law and IRS procedure are confusing by design, so our mission is simple: make the handling of your tax issue a positive experience, and help you walk away with real solutions and peace of mind.
“…Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”
Matthew 22:21 (KJV)
Taxes may not be anyone’s favorite topic, but Scripture speaks plainly about honoring our obligations. Romans 13:7 (KJV) puts it this way: “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom.” Most people who seek out Christian tax services already want to do the right thing. Life simply happens: a job loss, an illness, a business setback, a divorce, a bookkeeper who made mistakes. We understand that you can live honestly and still run into tax snags along the way. Our role is to help you set things right with integrity and without fear.
What Are Christian Tax Services, and Why Do They Matter?
Christian tax services combine licensed, professional tax representation with the values many believers look for in anyone they invite into their financial life: honesty, humility, confidentiality, and genuine care for the person behind the file. It does not mean a different set of tax rules. The Internal Revenue Code applies to everyone. What changes is how you are treated along the way.
With Mike Habib, EA, that looks like:
- Truthful advice, even when the news is hard. You will never be promised a result the facts and the law cannot support.
- Personal attention. Mike handles every client matter himself. Your case is never handed off to a junior staffer or a call center.
- Stewardship. Every strategy is chosen to protect your household or business and to resolve the matter at the lowest lawful cost.
- Respect. No shame, no lectures. Whatever brought you here, you will be treated with dignity.
- Nationwide reach. Faith-centered representation is available to you whether you live in California, Texas, Florida, New York, or anywhere else in the country.
Tax Preparation Done with Integrity
Tax preparation can feel like a daunting task, yet it is a practice as old as recorded history. With an experienced professional on your side, the process becomes far more manageable. We review your income and expenses carefully, look for deductions and credits you may have overlooked, and prepare returns that are accurate and defensible, because a well-prepared return is the best audit protection there is.
If you cannot pay what you owe when you file, do not let that stop you from filing. The IRS charges separate penalties for failing to file and for failing to pay, and the failure-to-file penalty is generally the more costly of the two. We will file the return correctly and then show you the payment and relief options that fit your specific situation.
Back Tax Help and Unfiled Returns
Unforeseen circumstances are often behind unfiled returns and delinquent taxes. The worst response is to let fear keep you frozen while penalties and interest grow. We want to lift that weight and show you a clear path back into good standing.
Our back tax help includes:
- Pulling your IRS wage and income transcripts so we know exactly what the IRS already has on file, including W-2s and 1099s you may have lost
- Reconstructing missing years from bank records and other documents when needed
- Preparing and filing all delinquent returns, federal and state
- Reviewing any substitute returns the IRS may have prepared for you, which often overstate the tax because they omit your deductions
- Recommending the best course of action for settling the balance once you are back in compliance
Because Mike represents taxpayers nationwide, it does not matter whether your unfiled years involve one state or several. We coordinate the federal and state sides together.
IRS and State Tax Audits: FTB, EDD, CDTFA, and Revenue Agencies in All 50 States
The word “audit” strikes fear in many hearts, but it does not need to. An audit is a review of your books, accounts, and financial records to verify that what you reported on your return is correct. The examiner may look at your income, bank statements, expenses, and other supporting documents.
A few facts help put an audit in perspective. According to the IRS, it notifies taxpayers of an audit by mail and will not initiate an audit by telephone, so an unexpected call claiming to be an IRS audit is a red flag for a scam. IRS audits are conducted either by mail or in person, at an IRS office or at your home, business, or representative’s office. The IRS generally includes returns filed within the last three years, may add years if it finds a substantial error, and usually does not go back more than six.
On the state side, our audit defense covers California’s Franchise Tax Board (FTB) for income tax, the Employment Development Department (EDD) for payroll tax and worker classification, and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) for sales and use tax. If you have older paperwork from the Board of Equalization (BOE), note that since July 1, 2017, most former BOE tax programs, including sales and use tax, have been administered by CDTFA. As a national tax representation firm, we also handle income, payroll, and sales tax controversies with revenue departments in every other state.
Contact us as soon as you receive an IRS or state audit letter. Early involvement lets us review the issues raised, organize your records, control what is submitted, and present your position clearly. Many audit issues can be resolved with far less difficulty than people fear when they are handled correctly from the start.
Tax Debt Relief That Fits Your Situation
If you have watched your tax debt grow because you could not pay, you are not alone, and there is a path forward. The IRS offers several resolution options, and the right one depends on your income, expenses, assets, and the size of the balance.
Payment Plans You May Be Able to Set Up Yourself
The IRS currently allows individuals to apply online for a long-term payment plan if they owe $50,000 or less in combined tax, penalties, and interest and have filed all required returns. Individuals who owe less than $100,000 and can pay in full within 180 days may qualify for a short-term plan online. If your situation fits these self-service options cleanly, we will tell you so honestly. You may not need to hire anyone.
When Representation Makes a Real Difference
Professional representation becomes valuable when the balance exceeds the online limits, when the IRS requires a financial statement, when a levy, wage garnishment, or federal tax lien is involved, when you have business payroll taxes, or when you may qualify for something better than a standard installment agreement. Options we evaluate include:
- Installment agreements structured around what you can truly afford
- Offers in Compromise, which can settle the debt for less than the full balance when you qualify
- Currently Not Collectible status for genuine financial hardship
- Penalty abatement, including first-time abatement and reasonable cause relief
- Collection appeals to stop or reverse aggressive enforcement
You stay informed and in control, while Mike handles the IRS contact, the paperwork, and the negotiation strategy aimed at the lowest amount you can lawfully owe.
Help Correcting Your Taxes: Amended Returns
Sometimes tax information is reported incorrectly. You may have left out income, missed expenses or deductions, overlooked a credit, claimed the wrong number of dependents, or chosen the wrong filing status. You may also receive a corrected form after you have already filed.
Individuals correct a filed return using Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. To claim a refund, the IRS says you generally must file Form 1040-X within three years after the date you filed the original return or within two years after the date you paid the tax, whichever is later. Missing that window can mean losing money you are legally owed. Amended returns for the current and two prior tax years can generally be filed electronically.
When you consult us about an amendment, we confirm whether an amendment is truly needed, prepare the correct federal form, address the matching state correction, and advise you on any related issues an amendment might raise.
Filing Tax Appeals: Your Right to an Independent Review
If you disagree with an audit result, a penalty, or a collection action, you may have the right to appeal. The IRS Independent Office of Appeals is separate from the examination and collection functions and is charged with resolving disputes fairly and impartially. An Appeals Officer weighs the facts and the applicable law, including the hazards of litigation, and many cases settle at this stage.
Deadlines matter. After an audit, the IRS may issue a Notice of Deficiency by certified mail. That notice gives you 90 days to petition the U.S. Tax Court (150 days if it is addressed to you outside the United States), and the IRS states it cannot extend that petition deadline. In California, appeals of FTB and CDTFA determinations go to the Office of Tax Appeals, which took over that role from the BOE beginning January 1, 2018.
When a case needs to go to Tax Court, or when a matter carries any criminal tax exposure, Mike engages an attorney from his hand-selected network of tax lawyers and continues working alongside counsel so nothing falls through the cracks.
